The September issue of Working Mother Magazine gives these suggestions for helping your little one give up the pacifier:
1) snip it – cut off a piece of the pacifier tip each night. It will change the sensation your child gets from sucking and gradually makes it less appealing.
2) go slow – limit binky use to fewer and fewer locations, like the crib or the stroller, to ease out of the habit gradually.
3) stay strong – once your child has ditched the pacifier, it should be gone for good. You may have a few tough nights, but giving it back will make things tougher down the line.
Eliminating sucking on a pacifier earlier rather than later will be better for your child’s dental health.
